The Inner Social

Drew Bartkiewicz, CEO of Musist, The Inner Social

It’s the year 2022 and people have never been more socially connected but at the same time there are growing (alarming) rates of isolation and unhappiness. So if all of this outward connectivity is creating less than healthy outcomes, how do we re-think social media and personal growth altogether?

People are gradually learning that the most overworked gears of social media are not designed to bring personal fulfillment or happiness; that’s ok if you know it going in, but the current social systems were never designed for that goal.

The first wave of social media has been and still is wired for your projection, not your reflection.

Because of ad-based revenue models, outward social media is geared for narrowed repetition, driving people to unhealthy patterns of repeated agitation, distraction and an unsustainable need for attention.

Social media’s dopamine codes are not engineered for inner discovery but for reactions that too often beg for external validations. A personal “post” therefore has to be slugged out with less thought (to keep pace), but with more personal disappointment for the declining lack of reaction.

The traditional social media pattern of chasing the tail of attention has left millions of people (especially young adults) sad, distracted and unfulfilled. What if we did it differently?

Mass social media over time demands that introverted people (about 56% of the world) eventually grow out of the pattern, or at least they park mass social away as a fun distraction but not much more. What if instead we used the healthier components of social media with the singular goal of sustaining personal inspiration and reflection?

This social intention would offer something completely different (yet familiar) to people of all ages; to harness social interactions, pictures, video and music to invite a person more inward than just outward.

This is the inner social; scaling through a social network the personal discovery and creativity of millions of people pursuing personal journeys and inspirations, doubts and questions.

In a way, the inner social becomes a more accessible and healthier mobile endeavor to better understand the greatest mystery in life, ourselves.

“La musa” is an mythological, Italian term of inspiration and introspection. Who am I? Where am I going? Why am I here? The muse is the premise of Musist, a musical app experience that unlocks the dopamine of personal creation and reflection, two sensations that over time give much higher satisfaction than attention ever could.

Self-discovery through creativity is the healthiest addiction there is.

Musist is more of a mirror than a projector, enabling creation not for external consumption but for internal connection. If traditional social media is “the race” then I would consider Musist the creative pilgrimage, “the way.”

There is no greater joy than inspiration and no greater necessity than reflection; both are the origin of the muse.

Musist brings the world this new alternative: the inner social. It’s a no less dynamic, musical and creative network but for the majority of people in the world who deep down are starting to realize that the way out, is in.

Take a chance. You might enjoy the different pace in a different space, to find your truly free, creative self.

After all, life is a muse.
